Honors & Affiliations
Clark continues to be recognized by the legal profession’s most respected attorney rating firm, Martindale Hubble, as receiving the “AV” rating – the highest achievement rating possible. These ratings are gathered from peer reviews garnered from other attorneys and judges. The “A” rating ranks his legal ability as being “Very High to Preeminent,” and the “V” rating ranks his ethical standards as being “Very High.” In addition to recognition by Martindale Hubble and their elite AV rating, Clark was also nominated by his peers, then selected after a rigorous vetting process as a Mid South Super Lawyer. The recognition and honor of being selected as a Super Lawyer is not something that can be purchased, and is based solely on merit. No more than five percent of a state's licensed lawyers can ever hold the designation of Super Lawyer. Clark has served the legal community in many capacities, including President of the Arkansas Trial Lawyers Association. He is also an active member of the American Association of Justice, the Lawyer Pilot’s Bar Association and regularly speaks at events for lawyers, often in connection with Arkansas’ Continuing Legal Education Seminars. Clark has served by appointment of the Governor as a Special Associate Justice on the Arkansas Supreme Court, and joined the majority opinion in what is now a landmark decision addressing an issue known as economic credentialing. The Court, with Special Associate Justice Clark Mason participating, held a hospital may not deny or revoke a physician’s hospital privileges in the event if that physician also holds an economic interest in a competing private hospital. This groundbreaking decision further protects and strengthens the physician-patient relationship and reinforces the patient's right to choose their own physician, while also protecting the rights of physicians to provide specialized care at private specialty hospitals. This decision is now relied upon by lawyers and judges as authority in courts throughout the United States and was widely praised by the American Medical Society as reinforcing the rights of patients to choose their physician. In addition to his leadership and dedication to his profession and our Justice System, Clark likewise recognizes the obligation and benefits of giving back to the profession and our community. Clark is a former Chairman of the Arkansas Aeronautics Commission, and presently serves as a Commissioner of the Aeronautics Commission. The Arkansas Department of Aeronautics mission is to support the economic growth of Arkansas' communities through grants supporting Arkansas' public airports. In addition to the economic impact of Arkansas' airports and their importance in fostering economic development as the gateway to a particular city or county within Arkansas', the Department of Aeronautics monitors Arkansas airports so they meet appropriate safety requirements. In the last fiscal year, the Arkansas Department of Aeronautics approved grants approaching $20 million dollars. Additional community involvement includes supporting and serving local charitable organizations such as Our House, the Old State House Museum, and Clark Mason Attorneys remains a proud CARTI Partner. Clark is a long-time board member of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Arkansas. Clark has authored and published several articles including “Strategies for Success in Personal Injury Cases” and “Civil Trial Procedures in Arkansas.” Clark is an active supporter of Arkansas Advocates for Nursing Home Residents and sponsored the publication of its newsletters. Clark also contributed to the construction of the Arkansas Law Enforcement Memorial Monument and the Arkansas Fallen Firefighters Memorial. Clark has always had a love for aviation and has been a licensed pilot for close to 30 years. He has flown aircraft ranging from jets and multi-engine turbine aircraft to single engine piston aircraft. He holds multiple ratings and endorsements issued by the Federal Aviation Administration. Notably, he holds a current instrument rating issued by the FAA, regularly flew the firm’s Beechcraft King Air for many years and currently flies the firm’s Beechcraft Baron. Clark volunteers transporting critically ill patients to appointments and treatment for Angel Flight. |
